Evacuation Planning
Bushfire Consultants Australia provides Bushfire Evacuation Plans specifically designed to address the issues concerning evacuation in a bushfire emergency.
The bushfire evacuation plans are formulated to facilitate pre-planning for an evacuation in the event that the need arises to relocate persons from the nominated facility to another place.
The plans are formulated in accordance with Council and Fire Service guidelines and in accordance with the relevant Australian Standard.
The purpose and scope of a bushfire evacuation plan is to provide details of:
- The circumstances under which persons will be evacuated.
- The location that persons will be evacuated to.
- The role and responsibilities of person’s co-ordinating the evacuation.
- Role and responsibilities of persons remaining with the premises after evacuation.
- A procedure to contact and liaise with the relevant local and regional organisations relevant to bushfire emergency planning and evacuation.
The bushfire evacuation plan:
- applies in the event that the decision is taken to evacuate the premises during a bushfire event on nearby land; and
- does not apply in the event that evacuation of the premises is required as a result of any other incident.
Additionally; a plan identifies an assembly point and refuge area/building within the grounds of the premises where occupants may safely shelter prior to evacuation.
The Bushfire Evacuation Plan is formulated as a sub-plan of an emergency evacuation plan under the relevant Australian Standard, AS3745 for emergency evacuation or can be provided as a separate detailed evacuation plan specific to bushfire evacuation.
